launch a MacBook Pro with an OLED
Apple is expected to launch a MacBook Pro with an OLED display in 2026, according to a report from market research firm OMIDA. The report also predicts a 37% increase in consumer demand for OLED displays in mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets, and laptops, from 2023 to 2031.
Although Apple’s Pro models already have their most powerful Silicon Processors, they haven’t released a MacBook Pro with an OLED display yet, which would offer users better picture quality.
“Apple is highly likely to incorporate OLED into its MacBook Pro models as early as 2026,” said Ricky Park, Senior Principal Analyst at OMIDA, as quoted by Gadgets 360.
OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diodes) screens offer individually controlled pixels, leading to more accurate color reproduction compared to LCD and LED displays. They also offer higher contrast, quicker response times, better viewing angles, and more design flexibility.
However, Apple has not officially confirmed the introduction of OLED displays in future MacBook Pro models.
In the meantime, Apple recently launched its iPad Pro with an OLED display, marking the company’s first tablet to feature an OLED screen. According to recent reports, Apple expects to ship over 9 million units of the new iPad Pro models.
The OMIDA report also suggests that demand for the Ultra Retina XDR OLED-equipped iPad Pro is expected to triple in 2024.
There are also rumors that Apple plans to add OLED displays to its entire iPad lineup, including the iPad Air and iPad Mini. This move could boost the demand for OLED tablets to over 30 million units by 2029.

According to a recent report, Apple is planning to ship over 9 million units of the new iPad Pro (2024), their first tablet featuring an OLED screen. This expected demand for the Ultra Retina XDR OLED-equipped iPad Pro could boost the tablet OLED market to three times its size compared to 2023, says Omdia. The research firm also predicts that the rumored introduction of OLED screens in future iPad Air and iPad Mini models will encourage competitors to use OLED screens in their tablets, potentially increasing demand for these panels to over 30 million units by 2029.
